Jákup Reinert Hansen is Associate Professor of Church History. In 1982 he was ordained as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Faroe Islands and served as vicar of Sandoy parochial district from December 1982 to August 2014. He wrote his PhD in homiletics at Aarhus University in 2004. In his present position he is in charge of the Additional Certificate in Faroese Church Studies.

Research interests

Church history of the Faroe Islands in the 18. century. Practical theology: hymnology, homiletics, liturgy, and church law.

Teaching

Jákup Reinert Hansen regularly teaches in courses on church history, church law, and liturgy and hymnology. He acts as visiting lecturer across the University on topics related to religious teaching, religious literature, and pastoral care. He also acts as esternal teacher in liturgy and hymnology at Tórshavn School of Music.
