Iben Nyholm Debess is a linguist and Research Assistant at the Faculty of Language and Literature (Føroyamálsdeildin). Prior to her current position (2022-), Iben has worked with language technology and data development (2019-2022) and corpus management and linguistic analysis in the fields of sociolinguistics and bilingualism (2012-2018).

Iben's work in language technology includes a project developing data sets for Faroese ASR, as well as a Faroese grapheme-to-phoneme tool (G2P).

She has teaching experience in Sociophonetic Fieldwork, Faroese Phonetics and Phonology, and organises a summer course in Faroese language for Nordic language students.

Iben is head of the Language Commitee at the University of the Faroe Islands.
